Issues tackled

Everyone should be able to enjoy beauty. This is why the New European Bauhaus promotes sustainable, inclusive, and beautiful housing. At this intersection, we find the BE-WoodEN project, aiming to provide a series of capacity-building activities, putting a focus on how innovative wood construction and community-centered space creation can be further introduced to social housing. By following the principles of the NEB Compass, BE-WoodEN will seek to advance building decarbonization and circularity by removing barriers to the wider use of wood and bio-based materials. This will be tested in practice through two social housing pilots, consisting of activities related to the design phase and the valorization of the local wood supply chain.

Housing Europe will evaluate and promote the replication of capacity-building and innovation labs results through surveys and tools. Additionally, he will help build a network of professionals applying NEB and place-making principles.

Public housing by ARTE Imperia and ACER Reggio Emilia in Italy are offering two pilots for demonstration.
