Issues tackled

The RE-SKIN (Renewable and Environmental-Sustainable Kit for building Integration) project aims to develop a multifunctional package that can transform energy-intensive buildings into modern, efficient, and highly sustainable structures. By integrating ICT technologies, renewable energy, sustainable materials, and next-generation installations, RE-SKIN offers a holistic and systemic solution for the energy retrofit and smart upgrade of residential, commercial, and public buildings. The system’s flexibility and modular configuration make it suitable for applications across Europe.

Housing Europe continues the mission of the recently completed HEART project, contributing to the Renovation Wave. RE-SKIN’s approach is structured around two main subsystems—roof and façade—combined with the building’s HVAC system to enhance overall energy performance.

To test these innovative renovation methods, the project includes two social housing demo sites: one owned by Vilogia in Northern France, and another by VIPASA in Asturias, Spain.
