Honouring the memory of Vicente Diego
A strong force in national and European working for decent housing and a model for living life to the full

Housing Europe would like to honour the inspirational memory of Vicente Diego who was the President of the Federation of Housing and Rehabilitation Cooperatives of the Valencian Community (Fecovi), a non-profit entity that represents, defends, and protects housing cooperatives in the Valencian autonomous territory. Fecovi and Concovi have been active members of Housing Europe since its establishment.
Locally, he was the President of the European Neighbour's Day, which was celebrated for the first time in 2006 in different municipalities of the Valencian Community "to break with anonymity and indifference and promote neighborhood solidarity", as he explained.
On a personal level, Vicente Diego was a great athlete, and this was demonstrated in 2021, with the Catarroja Unió Esportiva, and at over eighty years old, when he achieved first and second place in the 100 and 200 metres at the Spanish Championships.
Sorcha Edwards remembered Vicente ‘as a strong force in national and European working for decent housing and a model for living life to the full’. Housing Europe was represented at the funeral by the member of the election committee of Housing Europe, João Carvalhosa from Gebalis (Portugal).
