Given that the danger of excessive housing costs no longer affects only the most disadvantaged, but an ever-growing part of the population, the purpose of housing policy must not be restricted to assisting vulnerable individuals. It must also promote the supply of affordable homes for all, ensure that housing matches family needs, promote high-quality, energy-efficient housing, a social mix within buildings and urban areas, and tackle segregation. In this context, the EESC will hold a conference which will take place on Wednesday, 4 December 2019, starting at 10h00 at the EESC premises in Brussels

European Summer School for young professionals 2019

Save the date: 15-18 July 2019, Bochum

Each year, 25-30 young people from all over Europe come to Bochum to discuss current challenges of the social housing sector with academic experts and experienced practitioners. What will cities look like in the future? How will urban life become sustainable? Is “Smart City” just a buzzword or does it lead us towards a digitized way of living? How can we make sure that the digital transition does not leave a significant number of people behind? These and many other questions will be discussed in the 2019 edition of the European Summer School.
