Housing Europe Annual Conference & Social Housing Film Festival
16-17 June 2021 | Digital meet-up
Online, 16 June 2021Save the dateOn 16th June, Housing Europe's Annual Conference 'New European Bauhaus #BuildingCommunities' will bring together online public, cooperative and social housing providers, European city mayors, architects and EU officials with the aim to define how we can harness design to go beyond social inclusion and create Next Generation Neighbourhoods. The conference will also kick off the two-day Social Housing Film Festival (16-17 June), a compilation of 18 thought-provoking films in different kind of genres that all have two things in common - the power of public, cooperative or social housing to improve people’s lives and a strong human element.
The places we live in have the potential to enable thriving communities and ensure that all generations, and especially the European youth has access to adequate, affordable home where they can study, learn, innovate. The ongoing global health pandemic has reinforced the connection between social and affordable housing providers with local communities and COVID-19 has also emphasised the need to ensure that our neighbourhoods are opportunity and productivity hubs for learning, commerce, and culture.
Join us for a two-day digital Social Housing Film Festival on 16th and 17th June, packed with thoughtful conversations during our annual conference and closing event with city mayors, social and affordable housing providers, as well as film directors who truly believe in the urgency to create next-generation neighbourhoods. Housing Europe members will also gather for the annual General Assembly for which further information has been sent separately.
The event will also screen 18 thought-provoking films that explore topics, such as neighbourhood regeneration, social inclusion, community building, refugee integration, sustainable affordable housing, taking care of the elderly, connectivity and a lot more.
While the Festival will remain fully digital, we will be glad to welcome you on a special, branded platform that offers the possibility to netwoek, host a digital stand, and even chat before or after each film. This is also an excellent opportunity for the International Housing Film Festival community to meet again before the next-year gathering in Helsinki, Finland.

HOMES AFTER COVID - UNITING, CONNECTED, AFFORDABLE
During the closing session of the Festival, we would like to stress the need for homes and neighbourhoods to build bridges between communities and to ensure that they can unite and empower different age groups, different career profiles, different walks of life.
We will hear about how Finland has made the idea of achieving a social mix a reality, how Danish social housing providers tackle loneliness, as well as hear from the Director of the winning movie HELP3 during the last ISHF2019, Janek Tarkowski about what inspired him to tackle digitalisation and ageing in his film.
