New project at the HEART of building renovation
Holistic Energy and Architectural Retrofit Toolkit
Milan, 25 October 2017 | Published in EnergySince October 1st, a new EU project on improving the technical feasibility and cost efficiency of renovation of buildings has started. HEART (Holistic Energy and Architectural Retrofit Toolkit) focuses on improving energy efficiency in the building sector and aims to develop, test and validate a holistic and multi-technological integrated and interconnected system for the deep rehabilitation of residential buildings.
More concretely, it will be about promoting an overall vision of building energy performance, considering simultaneously heating, cooling and DHW, without neglecting power needs; bearing insight into increasing summer comfort requirements and cooling demand; consolidation of the role of RES (with special reference to PV) in buildings energy efficiency and increase in on-site consumption of self-produced energy; rationalization of building interventions, in order to create effective synergies between envelope technologies and technical systems, also enhancing the role of BEM and ICT technologies.
