Malta's Housing Authority homeownership programmes

Providing support to almost 1,400 households

Malta, 30 September 2024 | Published in Future of the EU & Housing

Housing Europe's partner, the Maltese Housing Authority is making strides in improving housing affordability with a series of homeownership schemes.

These initiatives are designed to assist buyers and tenants in becoming homeowners, offering targeted support across different age groups and income levels.

Among the key schemes are the Deposit Guarantee, helping those under 40 secure a home loan without the upfront deposit, and Equity Sharing, where the Authority purchases up to 50% of a property for those over 30. Other schemes include Social Loans for low-income households, New Hope for individuals facing medical barriers to life insurance, and Sir Sid Darek, which helps social housing tenants become owners.

Since 2017, nearly 1,400 households have benefitted from these schemes, with substantial financial support provided. Flip through this report by the Maltese Housing Authority to get more information.
